MLO Narrative
Language and linguistics was my chosen concentration within the Spanish major and the majority of my courses towards my degree enabled me to have a better understanding of the Spanish language. Before focusing my studies, understanding spoken Spanish was the most difficult for me and I could only understand people if they spoke slowly to me. After two years of studying the Spanish language and being able to compare and contrast with English has helped me improve my fluency. I understand more rules of grammar and have a better understanding as to the develop of the Spanish as it has changed over the years. My concentration was language and linguistic knowledge and the courses which progressed my skills were LING 392: Nature of Language Acquisition, SPAN 313: Intro to Spanish Linguistics, SPAN 303: Advanced Spanish Grammar, SPAN 301: Comp/Oral Practice, SPAN 305: Spanish for the Professions and SPAN 308: History/Culture of Aztlan.
